Steven Bernstein, ASC, DGA, WGA, has had a remarkably diverse career in the film industry. As a cinematographer, he worked on the Oscar-winning Monster and shot popular films like “White Chicks”, “Half Baked”, and “The Waterboy”. Beyond his work behind the camera, Steven is also a talented writer and director, having created films starring Helen Hunt, John Malkovich, and Aaron Paul.
Steven has written over 25 scripts, many currently in development, and received the Sloan Award for his writing. He was also nominated for the ASC Award for his cinematography on the series Magic City. His career took an unexpected turn when the Greek government enlisted his expertise to rebuild their film industry, leading to the establishment of a film school, studio, and a 40% tax credit system that attracted major productions to Greece.
As a seasoned educator, Steven has lectured on screenwriting, directing, cinematography, and the creative process. He is currently working on a book titled The Creative Process and has authored a novella, GRQ, which has been adapted into a film set for release next year. Throughout his career, Steven has collaborated with a wide range of actors, directors, and screenwriters, contributing to over fifty feature films and numerous TV shows, commercials, and music videos. His experience spans the globe, from Greece to Spain, Paris, London, and beyond.
