This program is designed for hobby actors and newcomers eager to kickstart their acting careers. “Fine-Tuning Your Instrument” focuses on the foundational skills needed to succeed in the industry, including memorized scene work, cold reads, and on-camera techniques. With the guidance of experienced instructors, students will receive personalized feedback and support, helping them build confidence and develop their unique acting style. Whether you’re exploring acting as a passion or taking the first steps towards a professional career, this program provides the essential training to help you grow and excel as an actor.
Kelley Hirst is a Winnipeg-based actress with a diverse background in film and theatre production, commercial projects, live events, and social media. Alongside her acting career, Kelley is a skilled writer, costume designer, and short film producer, as well as a freelance voice-over artist. Since 2018, she has been a dedicated mentor and teacher at OAFS, where she supports student needs, curates and selects scenes, assists as a class instructor, and coaches auditions.
Onalee Ames has been a dedicated member of the film industry for 25 years, spending much of her career in front of the camera as an actor in feature films and television. After returning to Winnipeg from Los Angeles, where she performed stand-up comedy, Onalee founded the Onalee Ames Film Studio. Since then, she has worked with over 4,000 students, helping them find their place in the acting community and thrive in the film industry. Onalee continues to pursue her passion for storytelling by writing screenplays and directing her own films.
