“Rising Stars” is an advanced film and TV after school acting program designed for young performers eager to shine on screen. Tailored for children at various skill levels, this class emphasizes the techniques needed to land roles in the industry, with a strong focus on on-camera work, improvisation, and audition preparation. Through engaging and hands-on exercises, students will build the confidence and skills required to succeed in competitive auditions. This program also serves as a stepping stone, preparing students to advance to higher levels of training with instructor Onalee Ames. “Rising Stars” is the perfect opportunity for young talents to develop their craft and take their first steps toward a professional acting career.

Mentor:

Keishon Joseph

Keishon Joseph is a Winnipeg-based actor with over 11 film and TV credits to his name. His notable work includes roles in “All Fun and Games” (2023), “Bad Romance: The Vicky White Story” (2023), “Ordinary Angels” (2024), and “Supa Strikas: Rookie Season” (2021). As an instructor at OAFS, Keishon brings his extensive industry experience and passion for acting.

Jaylyne Lockyer

Jaylyne Lockyer is a Winnipeg-based professional actress and teacher with a growing portfolio in the film and television industry. She is best known for her compelling performances in “An Hour to Kill” (2024) and “Almost Unsolved: Heists” (2024). In addition to her acting career, Jaylyne is also a skilled Casting Director for Farpoint Films, where she has provided casting support for projects such as “Aberdeen” (2024) and “Almost Unsolved: Heists” (2024). Jaylyne brings her industry expertise and passion for the craft to her teaching, inspiring the next generation of actors through her work at the film school.

Kelley Hirst

Kelley Hirst is a Winnipeg-based actress with a diverse background in film and theatre production, commercial projects, live events, and social media. Alongside her acting career, Kelley is a skilled writer, costume designer, and short film producer, as well as a freelance voice-over artist. Since 2018, she has been a dedicated mentor and teacher at OAFS, where she supports student needs, curates and selects scenes, assists as a class instructor, and coaches auditions.

Onalee Ames

Onalee Ames has been a dedicated member of the film industry for 25 years, spending much of her career in front of the camera as an actor in feature films and television. After returning to Winnipeg from Los Angeles, where she performed stand-up comedy, Onalee founded the Onalee Ames Film Studio. Since then, she has worked with over 4,000 students, helping them find their place in the acting community and thrive in the film industry. Onalee continues to pursue her passion for storytelling by writing screenplays and directing her own films.
