“You Are Your Own Story.”

Candace

Candace Heyliger of Winnipeg appreciates the supportive environment of Onalee’s Master Class. The scenes tend to be more intense and ask a lot of the actors emotionally. Candace was fine with that. She’d been acting since junior high and had training and even a couple professional roles, but she felt she was acting more “externally” rather than “internally”, so she was ready for the challenge.

“Onalee is different in that she’s able to give us such one-on-one attention,” she explains. “She’s all about emotion, so that keeps us honest. She gets you to dive deep into the role.  So it’s intense but it’s uplifting too. We’re all there rooting for each other, listening and giving feedback.”

With this coaching Candace says she has a much better understanding now of how to approach a role when she auditions.

“I’m getting more notice from casting directors now,” she confirms. “That’s because my craft has changed.”

Even so, she understands that in this precarious profession, survival means continuous learning.

It can be tough, experiencing constant rejection from auditions. So you have to keep going to class. Even the most famous actors keep getting coached! Keep at it, and your day will come!
